Nikons latest DX DSLR was only announced a few days ago, and it has already attracted a lot of attention.
Ken Rockwell says it’s the best body ever, “If you’re shooting sports, news and action and are already invested in Nikon lenses“. Similarly, after a short hands-on session, TechRadar writes “it’s likely to prove particularly attractive to sports and action photographers“. Over on the Petapixel website, Todd Owyoung details his experience using a prototype of the D500, calling it “a truly professional DX flagship” (and getting a lot of flack in the comments for failing to enumerate the weaknesses of the camera). If you don’t like reading long spec sheets, have a look at this video from Tony Northrup, which compares the D500 to the Canon 7D Mark II and others.
The Digital Photography Review website also has an illustrated “Hands-on with Nikon D500“. DPReview remains my primary source for photography news. Too bad they keep the silly “I own it – I want it – I had it” section in all their news – please, guys, delete that and stick to real information!
