German company Wunderlich specialises in all kind of parts for BMW motorcycles. Their newsletter is always worth reading. Here’s what I read a few days ago:

We await the R 1200 S LC

It was available for just three years. In 2008 the Bavarians removed it from the programme after a good 1000 days in production.

Now, in the era of the new waterboxer, would actually be the perfect time for a reincarnation. Obviously, we are talking about the BMW R 1200 S LC, the great-grandson of the once legendary white and blue sportiness, the R 90 S.

If it were out now, or maybe even tomorrow, or next week, we would have a pretty good idea of ??how it would look. Our designer Nicolas Petit put this exact idea down on paper.

The (currently non-existing) R1200S LC, as designed by N.Petit (Wunderlich)

As the (happy!) owner of an R1100S I should be drawn to that bike. It certainly looks as if it were designed by BMW, but in my eyes their proposal lacks the elegance of the R1100S. For my touring ambitions this machine, just like the earlier R1200S, is too sporty. I guess I’m prejudiced ;-)

Lovely Moiré For Ubuntu

I’m still spending lots of time trying to find the best pictures from our trip “Down Under”. You’ll find them on Flickr, but be sure to have a look every few days in order to catch the latest additions. One of the things I managed to do during the photo selection process (apart from work and filling in a tax form, that is) is the installation of Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) on my trusty Asus Eee PC.

This latest version of Ubuntu is running fine, better than the previous one: I no longer see an error message upon login. Thumbs up, Ubuntu!

At the same time, I’ve extended my English vocabulary: a vervet is an East-African primate (a monkey).

Busy Sorting Out Pictures

Selecting the best photos from the large collection we brought back from Australia is taking a lot of my time in the evening. But progress is being made, as evidenced by the Australia album on Flickr – I’m already working on the pictures of day five .

At the same time, the summer weather of the last days made it impossible not to get my bike out of the garage and start riding again, on a short solo trip as well as a day tour with friends. Here’s another bike portrait of my R1100S…
