Twenty years ago so, I tried my hand at assembling a motorcycle model. No surprises there: yes, it was BMW – a model R100S, if I recall correctly – and no, I didn’t finish it, due to family circumstances. Anyway, it was quite an undertaking, at least for a modelling beginner like me: lots of pieces to detach, to paint and to glue together.
Enter 3D printers, and modelling will never be the same. Just have a look at this example:
It’s not perfect (apart from not being a Beemer, of course ;-), but it’s already looking better than what I cobbled together so long ago. And let’s not forget that this is just the beginning of the 3D-printing revolution: things (models!) will only get better in the future.
