Art In The Bank

Last week I got a invitation from a colleague to attend a temporary exhibition, organized by the company I work for: Belfius Bank. So yesterday evening I visited the “Meesters van het Expressionisme” (“Masters of Expressionism“), a small but magnificent selection of the extensive collection of the Bank. The core of the exhibition are works of three grandmasters of the flemish expressionist movement: Constant Permeke, Frits Van den Berghe and Gustave De Smet.

The high quality of the exhibition was to be expected, of course, considering that it is composed of works from the largest private art collection in Belgium. What I did not expect, is the fact some of the works are so modern, that it seemed they were painted only yesterday rather than 70 or 80 years ago. Highly recommended (but hurry, places are limited) !
