Johnny Clegg wrote this tribute to what he called “one of the greatest South-Africans that ever lived“.

Asimbonang 'umfowethu thina
Laph'ekhona
Laph'wafela khona
Hey wena
Hey wena nawe
Siyofika nini la' siyakhona

The English translation goes like this:

We have not seen our brother
In the place where he is
In the place where he died
Hey you!
Hey you and you as well
When will we arrive at our destination

I bought the CD “Third World Child” in December 1987, and ever since I have been deeply impressed by this song. Today is a good day to recall this song as well as the subject of the text: Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.
