Be A Polyglot

InfoQ has a good summary of an interesting debate about Programming languages in future systems, started by a blog post by Ola Bini. Explore the subject yourself, if you care about it, because I don’t feel like repeating the many points of view in what is, of course, a complex matter with no black or white but lots of grey. Let me just state that in my view, the systems we build are getting more and more complex – because they do more and more; since there is no single programming language that is “best” (or even “good”) for all the different parts, subsystems, modules and layers of any complex systems, it stands to reason that we will need multiple languages to cover the whole playing field. What remains to be seen, is whether a single programmer has to be involved in all of parts…
