I am very happy to say again that the debate continues – the debate about free software (and Open Source etc.), that is. I can only repeat that the subject at large is not only worthy of discussion, but in my opinion quite important to our future. So let me point you to a few other sites:
- “Information as a global public good: A right to knowledge and communication”, an Oxfam Internation Campaign Proposition
- The discussion about “Information As A Global Public Good” on SlashDot.org
And don’t forget the other links in the Bookmarks section!
On the subject of development and ownership of software components, I found “Software’s Second Amendment” quite interesting as well. It should not come as a surprise that the type and scale of component being (or to be) developed determine the process (or at least the who and how) of its development. What do you think: Can the classification presented in this article help you in thinking about components and application development?
