NUKLEOS WEBLOG 2000-01-30

As I wrote two weeks ago: “Here’s another special guy on the Web: the boss of a Belgian company called Microman. He’s roaming around Asia and Africa with a truckload of high-tech stuff “to continue to run his company” from wherever he happens to be. A site about his adventures should be active any day now…”. And indeed it is: see www.microman.be/wereld. Unfortunately for some of you, it’s in Dutch only. What’s worse: the site isn’t that very interesting!

Another remarkable person on the Web is Chen Fanhong, winner of the first Miss China Online title. Read her story at Green Worm’s Autumn, her homepage (you may encounter some problems with the security settings of this site – at least, I did). There is no word about her election, although that caused quite a stir: Chen Fanhong was almost thrown out of the contest, because of her being a “handicapped person in a wheelchair”. I don’t think many Western publications (netwise or other) mentioned this.

NUKLEOS WEBLOG 2000-01-13

I’m back soon, but I had to clean up some of my e-mail. Not wanting to lose some URLs about Murphy’s Laws, I decided to put them in a Quickie. I’ll add to that one, as soon as I have more!

I shall also be reading with great care a text by John Perry Barlow of the EFF: The Economy of Ideas. Comments may follow (or perhaps not).

Here’s another special guy on the Web: the boss of a Belgian company called Microman. He’s roaming around Asia and Africa with a truckload of high-tech stuff “to continue to run his company” from wherever he happens to be. A site about his adventures should be active any day now…

NUKLEOS WEBLOG 2000-01-12

Well, we’re all back here: no ‘Millenium bug’ blew the world apart – or at least, I didn’t notice. So, let’s go back to our daily routine.

I am not sure you can call this routine, however: www.dotcomguy.com. Then again, the advantage of being the first one to do it (especially in such a spotlight) is that you can make it into a way of living… Is this a case of “Oh, what some people will do to get some money ?”

By the way, I have started my “redesign” of this site. The few stories available are all listed in the Quickies-section.

Wouter ;-)
